Welcome to For the Glory, soldier! We are an intermediate roleplay about the anime/manga Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin). Our story begins soon after the battle for Trost, leaving our characters, worn, battered and distraught. The popular district is currently overrun with titans, leaving it useless for any sort of cause that could aid in humanity’s fight. Those in the military are currently trying to devise a plan to take back Trost, and an operation will be put into place - that is, as soon as they acquire enough warm bodies to do so. Until then, they are in the midst of a hiatus, training as many cadets as possible to help them in carrying out their plan. The fight against the tyrannous beasts that rule over this world is as ruthless and relentless as ever, and it is up to you, soldier, to decide where our story will turn. Will humanity be able to retake Trost, or will it forever be in the merciless grasp of the titans? The answer is up to you.

= HANGE ZOË =
The flimsy pieces of parchment crumpled and quivered within Hange’s palms as her bright amber eyes stared down at the words that were scrawled across its surface. It would not have been so unsettling if her expression had not been like a stone—inert and blank, with little indication of how she would receive the information that was written within the Garrison’s report. Being recalled from the field with her cohorts in an attempt to salvage Trost might have shaken a lesser soldier’s resolve, but not the Scout Regiment’s scientist. It was actually disconcerting for her peers with how quiet she had been after seeing the breach in the Wall. Despite her perverse fascination with the Titans, the moment they posed a threat to all of humanity, that was where she drew her line of fantasy. At times like these it was quick, calculative decisions and a perceptive eye that could mean the difference between survival or extinction and so Hange immersed herself in her strengths. Information. Facts. Logic. Even while her eyes skimmed the page, she was trying to put that brilliant mind of hers to good use.
Moblit Berner, her second in command, stood faithfully at her side, the young scout usually being the voice of reason when she started to get too out of hand. He watched over her like a hawk, trying his hardest to discern what she could possibly be thinking at a time like this. Oh, and those wheels turned. Who would have thought the Colossal Titan would have materialized once again while they were away? She remembered reading reports of the deviant type Titan’s heightened intelligence. The Armored Titan was the same. And if that was the case—
From behind those glasses, her eyes danced frantically from the left to right, reading with great urgency, burning the report into her long-term memory. Every detail playing in her mind: the cadets had managed to refuel their canisters to utilize their maneuver equipment, finding a means of retreat, but some had reported that they saw…
Hange’s breath hitched in her throat, a gasp of surprise escaping her lips as a bead of sweat rolled down the side of her face. Moblit immediately snapped to attention, taking a single step toward his squad leader as he started to speak, “C-Capt—? ”
“AIIYEEEE!!!” She suddenly screamed, the abrupt outburst bringing Moblit to flinch and recoil. Her hands twitched, then her arms, and it continued until she felt ever fiber of her body start to vibrate out of sheer exhilaration. It was like electricity dancing upon the surface of her skin, innervating each and every cell in her body. There, scribbled across the page, there existed the following words: a boy, cadet Eren Yaeger, emerged from the nape of a Titan’s neck. Hange forgot how to breathe, her heart bounding within her chest as she felt her face start to flush a deep red. She felt her knees start to swoon, her body trembling so vigorously that she could scarcely keep her composure.
A look of deep concern tinged with borderline fear plastered Moblit’s face as he went to entreat to her again: “Captain is ther—?”
“YEEEEEESSSS!!!! I-I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!” Hange yelled as she jumped into the air, successfully interrupting and ignoring her right hand once more. Her countenance shifted to borderline madness as her laughter echoed until it filled the room. The papers in her hands creased within her hands, her knuckles turning white as she gripped them for dear life. A boy had actually transformed into a Titan?! This world truly was such an extraordinary place!
She cackled until her lungs started to ache, Moblit staring at her wordlessly as if she had just upgraded to a whole new level of crazy. The lenses within her glasses caught the light from the lanterns in the room, endowing her with a crazed and dangerous appearance. Without hesitation, she then took off running, her long legs pumping to carry her as fast as humanly possible. She kicked up a cloud of dust as she went sprinting out of the room, the papers of the Garrison report fluttering weightlessly in the emptiness she left behind as she tossed them to the wind.
“H-HANGE!” Moblit called uselessly after her. Nothing could possibly stop her, not when she was like this, with that wild look in her eyes. She was determined to find this boy, this Eren Jaeger. She had to get to him first before the damn Military Police could get their corrupt claws into him. Hange did not care if she could not even speak to him, she just had to see him—to know that there was truth to what she had just read. To confirm that this boy was as tangible as they had said.
The moment some of the other soldiers saw her barreling down the hall in a blaze cloud of smoke, the more experienced scouts were smart enough to dive or to press themselves up against the walls to get out of her way. Those that were a little bit more green were not as quick to react… fortunately Hange was so in-tune with her goal, so acutely focused, that she managed to leap over or dance around them with incredible dexterity. If only she utilized the same skill and urgency in a real fight, she would almost be as dangerous as Levi.
Rushing out of the barracks, she immediately deployed her 3-D Maneuvering Device, the grapples embedding themselves into the Wall adjacent to her. A spurt of gas decompressed from her gear and the wires started to reel her in, her body flying through the air with astonishing speed. The early evening wind whipped through her brown hair and cloak, working to cool her off after her most recent explosion. Her shadow raced up the Wall along with her, dancing in the light of the dying sun. Within moments her boots made contact with the solid stone of Wall Rose and she retracted the cables back into her belt before she went off running along the rampart. This was the only barrier that remained to prevent the Titans from devouring everyone within. She could hear them—the Titans that now controlled Trost—and their mindless sounds only spurred her to move faster, her keen eyes looking for the tell-tale insignia of the cadets: a pair of crossed swords against a shield.
The moment she found a gathering of the soldiers-in-training, Hange took a haphazard leap directly off the wall. Her wires found purchase in the nearby buildings, the skilled woman using her momentum to land safely in the middle of the cadet’s little group. Her cloak flapped dramatically behind her before it fell to the backs of her legs, the Wings of Freedom glittering in the sunset as she eyed the confused youngsters. Just when they might start to feel worried or afraid, that was when a smile spread across Hange’s face, raising her hand up in an informal wave, “Yo, cadets! I’m looking for cadet Yaeger. Has anyone happened to see him?
( TAGGED » Eren Yeager // NOTES » Sorry for the wait, m'dear! ♥ )
Eren was close to the wall and he was just looking at the person and wondered when another wave of Titans were going to fight against them. He was just a human with the abilities to become a Titan to fight those monsters who threatens mankind. It was there he had been protecting the humans from Titans. Eren was free to live among the humans as long as he was useful against the Titans. He had been thinking a lot about this situation and what he was able to do save the humans from their extinction in this war.
He had his back to the wall and waited. In this war he had realized for the humans had to fight back against the Titans if they had wanted to live for another day. Eren hadn't lifted his head yet since he was still thinking about a lot of things. Of all things that he could have done he had just hoped showing them his Titan form wasn't a mistake in itself. There was no other choice that he had figure to fight monsters. He had figured that he had needed to fight them using the Titan ability that he was given.
Eren had heard his last name and he was just wondering who was asking for him. He had been mostly had been dangerous and cause a few military personnel to be scared out their wits. He had hoped that he didn't have to face another scared personnel that wanted him dead. This was just something that he did know to protect himself and his friends even if it means using some of this blood to protect them and grant a half-body Titan. He had realized that he was able to do that just a few moments ago, but haven't tried yet.
In this world that given him such an ability to do so from his father he had became a monster, but he was also fighting against the Titans. He had wondered if he was able to talk to this person he was out here free and free to walk around and fight the Titans that attacks once they do. Eren had been wanting to make sure that nobody knows the most of the situation that he was in so that way he could be still be useful without anyone getting scared that much by him as well.
Eren had been looking straight ahead and he hadn't thought he would be seeing this person here. He had remembered his training to treat the Captains with the upmost respect. He was saluting the Captain and he had been wondering if this Captain had scared or happy to see him. Eren hadn't known which Captain had came to see him. He wasn't been able to go far without some heavy surveillance to make sure that he hadn't been able to make any trouble for the humans. Eren had been wanting to talk to the Captain anad he just didn't realized it was Hange.
His entire life time was now something that he had to watched out so that way he wasn't able to go out of control. He was just wanted to live free when this was all said and done. This world was something that he had been trying to live in this world without any problem. In this time he had bene trying to live without any fear. Eren had been wondering if this Captain had wanted to talked to him about something or wanting to kill him. It was one or the other. He was hoping it was the whole talking part and not the latter part. It was just something that he had hoped it wasn't the Military Police since they were frightened of him mostly. He had saw it was Captain Hange that had came to see him and he was let out a sigh of relief. Eren hadn't known it was going to be Captain Hange that came to see him.
"I am Eren Yeager and I had been right here for quite a while. Do you need to talk to me Captain Hange?" He said. He was just been standing there and waiting for her to talk. He was mostly happy to talk to Captain Hange, but he had hoped that he was able to talk to her while he was still free and alive. This was one of the times that he hadn't wanted anything to go wrong since he had been able to breathe the clean air and fight against the Titans. Eren had been wanting to fight against the Titans as much as possible. Eren had wanted to protect the humans from the Titans no matter what it takes. He had been mostly had been wondering what Captain Hange had wanted.
I wonder what she had wanted with me for. Maybe an experiment to see how a Titan Shifter is like. I am not worried not one bit about that. I am truly a Titan Shifter and a human that's my life. I had been living with this serum inside of me ever since my father had put it inside of me. I think he had wanted me to give the humans a fighting chance to survive with me fighting the Titans as a Titan. I wonder if this what my dad had wanted me to do with my life. Eren thought.
He had been standing there waiting for the Captain to talk while thoughts were going through his head and he had been living his life with this ability ever since he could remember the serum going in him. Eren hadn't wanted anyone getting scared especially Captain Hange. This was one of the times he hadn't bitten his finger, but if a Titan comes to fight them he was going to fight against the Titan no matter what it takes. He was going to protect Captain Hange from the Titans he had felt that was his duty to protect and to fight against the Titans. His ability had only appeared now and he was hoping that he was going to have control over his Titan form. Having control over his Titan form was something that he had wanted the most. Eren hadn't thought that he was going to have control of his Titan form just yet, but with enough patience and keeping himself awake he was able to have control over his ability.
He had been able to live right now and he had hoped that he gotten enough control over his Titan ability to actually not take a human life. Eren had been wanting something that he stayed awake and have enough control of his ability. He had been looking at Captain Hange still saluting her. He hadn't wanted to seem rude to her. He was hoping that he could have a normal conversation with Captain Hange without any problem. This was something that he had been thinking of the mostly and he had wanted no problems between Captain Hange and him. He hadn't moved from that spot even when talking to her. He hadn't shown any fear against her since he wasn't scared to speak to Captain Hange.
I took a journey to the unknown. And i came back changed. i can feel it in my bones.
= HANGE ZOË =
An eerie silence fell over the cadets as they stared at the odd woman before them, and just when Hange was about to open her mouth again, her patience was rewarded. A boy with bright teal hues and chocolate brown hair stepped up, introducing himself as just the person she had been looking for. Never in her life could she have ever hoped to be so lucky, to find this titan-transforming enigma so easily, and yet here he was right before her eyes. Eren Yaeger! A spark of wonderment cracked the neutrality of her features, particularly when the boy had addressed her by name. How very unexpected. But unlike many others who held a position of authority along with her, the squad leader’s first response was not to snap at the boy for his brazen disrespect for not keeping to straight formalities. No, if this boy was capable of what the reports said, then in her mind he had more than earned the right to refer to her as he did.
“Ohoo!” The woman cooed, an appealing grin rolling over her lips as she took a step closer to him. With her dominant hand, she gently grasped the rims of her glasses, repositioning them on her face as she leaned over him to get a closer look. Her fanatical amber eyes went to work examining the boy closely. What was she looking for, exactly? Well, that was a good question. His outward appearance was no different than any normal human. Of course it would be too much to hope that he had retained some sort of physical qualities that could link him with his titan form. Such a pity that wasn’t the case! But, Hange would not allow that minor disappointment to cloud her vision.
After her brief assessment, she stood upright and kindly offered him her hand in greeting and as a sign of good will. She did not doubt that he was already starting to feel the ire of others. Fear. Hate. These were the two biggest enemies of tolerance, and Hange refused to label Eren without first meeting him. As much as she wanted to secure this boy as a subject for her studies, she felt that it was imperative first to understand him on a personal level. She could not be the only person who realized that Eren’s abilities—no—his gifts could be a catalyst for change in a world that had long since become stagnant. Perhaps he could be the hope that humanity was searching for?
Hange was itching to find that out for herself.
“Well, Eren. I’m flattered to meet you. Since you already know my name, I assume you’re aware that I represent the Scout Regiment. I do hope others have not already approached you…” She trailed off, seeming to infer to her peers in the Regiment that would likely be much less “open minded” than her. Levi in particular. That little man could be so insufferable, yet she considered him one of her dearest friends. Nevertheless, her tone was enthusiastic and she was genuinely excited to make Eren’s acquaintance. That was more than apparent based on the animated expression that was plastered on her face.
While the other lingering cadets had already politely excused themselves, the Scout Regiment’s scientist did not intend on setting her conversation here. “I have a fantastic idea. Let’s take a walk, shall we? I would love to have a chance to pick your brain—” Once more she cut herself off as she realized how what she had said may be misinterpreted, especially given her predilections. A hearty and loud chuckle escaped her in an attempt to cover up the poor choice of words, offering Eren a firm pat on the shoulder before she started to trot off. She sure was not giving him any time to dwell on her little slip, waving her hand behind her for him to follow, “Come, come!”
Hange maintained an open and inviting air about her. If there was any chance that she could possibly be fearful of what Eren was capable of, there was little indication with how she carried herself. She could very easily cut to the chase and relentlessly interrogate the poor boy, but after the disaster that befell Trost and the nightmares he likely had to endure, she was not going to do that to him. She had a heart, as complicated and confused as it was, and she inferred that if Eren honestly meant humanity harm then he would have already capitalized on the initial confusion of the Colossal Titan’s attacks. Instead, he slaughtered Titans in retribution. The reports confirmed it. And so, he had her momentary trust. She would coax the information she needed out of him slowly, “So, Eren. Tell me a little about yourself. You’ve completed your training… ignoring what occurred today, what branch were you thinking of choosing and why?”
