Welcome to For the Glory, soldier! We are an intermediate roleplay about the anime/manga Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin). Our story begins soon after the battle for Trost, leaving our characters, worn, battered and distraught. The popular district is currently overrun with titans, leaving it useless for any sort of cause that could aid in humanity’s fight. Those in the military are currently trying to devise a plan to take back Trost, and an operation will be put into place - that is, as soon as they acquire enough warm bodies to do so. Until then, they are in the midst of a hiatus, training as many cadets as possible to help them in carrying out their plan. The fight against the tyrannous beasts that rule over this world is as ruthless and relentless as ever, and it is up to you, soldier, to decide where our story will turn. Will humanity be able to retake Trost, or will it forever be in the merciless grasp of the titans? The answer is up to you.

- INTELLIGENT : Sharp and incredibly analytical, Armin tends to appeal to his logic to find the gaps in a plan or the weaknesses of an enemy. These qualities coupled with a keen intuition enable him to formulate tactics practically at the drop of a hat which can in turn be executed by his comrades even in the direst of situations.
- loyal : Honest and reliable, Armin never strays from a friend’s side. He would rather die together than alone, and has little difficulty in following orders.
- selfless : Armin constantly worries over the safety of his friends and will throw caution to the wind if it means he can protect those he cares about. He will go so far as to sacrifice himself or his own humanity if it would guarantee the success of a mission.
- compassionate : Caring and gentle, Armin has a propensity for being incredibly sympathetic to others. It pains him to see individuals that are in a physical or emotional state of pain, and he often tries to offer reassurances and kind words to help ease them of those troubles.
- Level-Headed : When emotions flare, Armin can keep his cool and assess situations. He is also able to leverage his calmer mind to talk down and prevent conflict, typically appealing to the better qualities in others.
NEGATIVE
- insecure : Let’s be honest, Armin holds very little faith or value in his own capabilities. He knows that he is not as proficient physically as his friends and constantly worries that as a direct result he will just end up being a burden to them.
- Submissive : Years of constant torment at the hands of bullies have led him to be a fairly passive individual. Armin often struggles to assert himself and prefers to go with the flow rather than take the initiative or speaking his mind.
- Cowardly : Armin’s naturally meek personality does not grant him much foolhardy courage, especially in the face of an enemy. He’s deeply frightened that he will make a quick meal for a Titan because of his inability to garner the same amount of bravery as some of the other cadets.
- Ambitious : Intensely determined to see what is beyond the Walls, his ambitions are what have enabled him to enlist in the military despite his shortcomings. It may just be his determination to make his dreams a reality that are the death of him someday.
- Curious : Fabricating scenarios of exploring the outside world within his imagination, Armin is naturally very fascinated and curious of the unknown. Sometimes his enthusiasm to uncover the world’s great mysteries may lead him to some impulsive decisions.
biography
Born and raised within the southernmost outcropping of Wall Maria formally known as the destitute Shiganshina District, Armin Arlert was a boy who quickly learned to adapt to the injustice and brutality of life within the Walls. Ever since he could remember, his mother and father occupied his fragile adolescent mind with stories of the outside world; stories that promised freedom, inconceivable beauty, and natural wonders that his imagination could not even begin to comprehend. Despite the threat of the Titans that ruled that forbidden realm, it was those tales that drove him to become the imaginative, determined, and intellectual young man he is today. When he was just five years of age his parents embarked in secret on an illegal expedition to adventure into the world outside the Walls which left him under the guardianship of his only remaining family: his grandfather. As weeks gave way to months and no word was ever received regarding the fates of his mother and father, Armin bitterly concluded that they must have met a cruel end at the hand of the Titans. It was far easier for him to accept that they perished while exploring the unknown rather than believe that they had abandoned him to rot in complacency within the Walls.
His passion to uphold his parent’s dreams burned only brighter the more he aged but his curiosity failed to extend to most other children within his district. Before long Armin became a prime victim for the bullies and older kids around town who harassed and pummeled him for being a “freak” and a “heretic”. Not possessing the same physical strength as the larger children to fight back, Armin instead became accustomed to the beatings, at least that was until he met a fellow outcast among their midst: Eren Yeager. Eren effectively made up for all of the anger and fearlessness that Armin lacked and they quickly became close friends. Soon thereafter, Mikasa Ackerman joined the mix and the three became the most unlikely trio who always looked out for one another and dreamed of venturing beyond the Walls together someday.
It was a day like any other when Shiganshina fell and Armin did not know what compelled him to find Captain Hannes. Perhaps it was fate. Perhaps it was intuition, but the moment that Eren and Mikasa went rushing off in the direction of where the Titans came flooding through the shattered gate, Armin knew he could not look back. Only later would he realize that it was his quick action that actually saved the lives of his two friends, but in the moment Armin felt immense shame for not having the courage to go with them. Instead, he allowed his fear to get the best of him, and he evacuated along with his grandfather on the boats to the interior of Wall Rose. As a result, he did not witness the same carnage as his friends on that day, but he could not deny the terror that gripped him when he thought of coming face-to-face with one of those monsters.
After Wall Maria was considered a complete loss, Armin’s grandfather tried to support all three of them and they made due with what few supplies they could get their hands on. However, as time passed, the food stores dwindled, and the “operation” to reclaim humanity’s lost territory was announced. Armin’s grandfather was drafted into the ranks along with countless other refugees and he was devoured by the Titans that awaited them. Once more Armin was confronted with the loss of what little family he had, and it was then that he was instilled with the unwavering determination to become a soldier so that he could join the Scout Regiment.
With no adult guardianship, Armin struggled along with Mikasa and Eren to scour the streets for food while they worked in the fields until they reached the proper age to enlist in the military. At the age of 12, he enlisted into the 104th trainee squadron. It quickly became very apparent that Armin was not built for military training, but through raw determination he persevered through combat and endurance tests in which he always scored the weakest. In contrast, Armin always received perfect marks in the classroom when it came to academic or theoretical testing, and he proved to be quite a prodigy when it came to strategizing. Sometimes he barely skidded by and he fell far from the top 10 of his class, but Armin could find pride in the truth that he succeeded in his training. Finally, he had proven to himself that he could have value as a soldier for humanity.
The night before the graduation ceremony could unfold which would solidify his status within the ranks of the Scout Regiment, the Colossal Titan once more reared his ugly head. The destruction of the Wall within the Trost District threatened for history to repeat itself from what had befallen Shiganshina five years prior. Armin, barely able to contain his own nerves and apprehensions regarding the situation, was assigned to the same squad of cadets as Eren and their goal was to help bolster the Garrison forces who were to repel incoming Titans from entering the Trost District. By the time their inexperienced group of six had reached their designated position, the surrounding areas had already been overrun with the Garrison having suffered countless losses.
When they were ordered to advance, Thomas Wagner, a member of their squad was caught mid-air while utilizing his 3-D Maneuvering Gear by a Deviant Class Titan. Witnessing the Titan devour Thomas whole instilled hesitation in all but Eren, who went rushing after the monster with reckless abandon. Unfortunately, his impetuousness cost him, and another Titan that was prowling the streets from below was able sever Eren's left leg with a quick snap of its jaws. While Eren went tumbling painfully across the tiled rooftops, the remainder of the squad departed to come to his aid. All except for Armin.
Consumed by his own fear and mind-numbing reality of the situation, Armin found himself paralyzed. He could not move to act even as he perceived the remainder of his team being torn apart by the hungry Titans surrounding them. Even when a roaming Titan took notice of his presence and gingerly extracted him from the rooftop he was perched on, Armin's terror gripped him too tightly for him to retaliate. All he could envision was the image of his best friend laying in a broken and bloody heap on the roof adjacent to him. By forces that outweighed the strength of his own will, Armin could do nothing but scream as he was dropped into the Titan's mouth.
As he went slipping down into the back of the Titan's throat, Armin once again found himself saved by Eren who had managed to grab him moments before he was swallowed. Being hurled out of the Titan's mouth, Armin tried to entreat to Eren, to get him to take his hand so that they could both survive, but Eren was ultimately eaten in his place. Armin's cries of anguish drew the attention of the nearby squad of Connie Springer and they quickly extracted him to a safer location.
Numb and haunted by the presumed death of Eren, Armin struggled to find the words to explain to the other cadets what had happened. Instead, he turned his shame and anger upon himself, wishing that he had just died so that it would not have cost the life of his best friend. It was then that all of his perceptions of the cruelty of the world, his weaknesses, and his reliance on the strength of his friends compounded on one another. Coming to terms with such truths, he found himself capable of retreating so that he could effectively report the Garrison's failure to the rear guard.
The majority of the other cadets were present near the rear supply station as well which allowed for a bit of thankful reunion in knowing that they all had not lost their lives so soon. Unfortunately for them, the headquarters building was already swarmed by multiple Titans which meant that resupplying would be relatively impossible until the threats were disposed of. The rookies, however, knew that even with their combined strength that retaking the building would be a suicide mission. That was, until Mikasa Ackerman came onto the scene. Armin's shame came to a head when he had to admit to Mikasa that Eren had sacrificed himself to save him; but Mikasa was able to internalize her strife and unexpectedly rallied the remaining cadets into action.
Following Mikasa closely, he knew the withdrawn girl well enough that he was able to pick up on the fact that she was attempting to stifle her shock by keeping herself preoccupied with action. She had managed to slay many Titans but consumed a great amount of gas to push the limits of her 3D-Maneuvering Gear. As a direct result, she lost her mobility and Armin refused to allow her to be left behind. Quickly, he redirected himself and went to save her, scooping her up from off the ground while Titans battled mere meters away. Attempting to urge Mikasa to retreat, they both watched as a particularly large Deviant Titan rampaged and started assaulting others of its kind. Observing the Titan's unnatural behavior, Armin quickly assessed that they could all try to benefit from the Titan's murderous rampage. If Mikasa could kill the Titans in the immediate area then the Deviant would instinctively be drawn to the next largest concentration of potential victims. Eventually, they could lead the Deviant right to where the supplies were and they could refuel. Obviously they did not know the true nature of the Deviant Titan or if it would eventually turn its assault on them, but for now they just had to trust that it would act as a necessary distraction.
His gamble paid off, allowing for the cadets to safely retreat into the deeper recesses of the headquarters building. Inside, they got their hands on some supplies that were readily available: namely a whole barrel of loaded rifles. With the knowledge that the supply basement was breached and infiltrated by smaller Titans from outside, Armin did not hesitate in going to work to set a plan in motion so that they could gain access to the gas tanks. His plan was risky; success hinging on the execution and teamwork of all of the cadets as a whole. The majority would act as bait and be lowered down the supply shaft with the rifles at the ready, using the weapons in a coordinated attack to temporarily blind the Titans. While blinded, their most athletic five would dispatch the distracted Titans with their reinforced steel blades by excising the weak point at the nape of their necks. Despite the danger and the responsibility that the plan put on the shoulders of the selected five, everyone put their trust in Armin's intuition and it was with this strategy that they successfully retook the supply basement without suffering a single loss.
Once refueled, everyone was to retreat behind the Wall Rose and await further orders. Ready to finally get away from the nightmare, Armin only stopped himself when he saw Mikasa's hesitation. Down below a horde of Titans were feasting on the exhausted and injured Deviant that had secured their success to begin with. There was still hope that maybe answers could be unraveled from such a peculiar specimen, that it could perhaps be turned into an ally rather than an enemy, and Armin too could understand its value. However, after one final display of violence, the Titan eventually collapsed after it successfully dealt the killing blow on the initial Deviant that had devoured Thomas.
From the steam that started to rise off of the Titan's disintegrating body, Armin could not rationalize what he saw... There, tangled in the mound flesh of the dying Titan, he could make out the frame of his best friend. Eren was the Deviant Titan who saved them all along.

Being that the site is set during the attack on Trost, if you could add into Armin's history until just before they plan and carry out Eren closing the breach then you'll be all set!
Not a problem at all! I made the necessary additions and it's all ready for another review. Sorry that it's a little wordy but I wanted to be thorough! :3
