Welcome to For the Glory, soldier! We are an intermediate roleplay about the anime/manga Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin). Our story begins soon after the battle for Trost, leaving our characters, worn, battered and distraught. The popular district is currently overrun with titans, leaving it useless for any sort of cause that could aid in humanity’s fight. Those in the military are currently trying to devise a plan to take back Trost, and an operation will be put into place - that is, as soon as they acquire enough warm bodies to do so. Until then, they are in the midst of a hiatus, training as many cadets as possible to help them in carrying out their plan. The fight against the tyrannous beasts that rule over this world is as ruthless and relentless as ever, and it is up to you, soldier, to decide where our story will turn. Will humanity be able to retake Trost, or will it forever be in the merciless grasp of the titans? The answer is up to you.

Jean Kirstein was born an only child in Trost, a town within the perimeter of Wall Rose, raised and cared for by his mother. Unlike some of the other characters in the series, Jean's childhood seemed to have been relatively normal. Upon turning old enough, Jean joins the military and becomes part of the 104th Trainees Squad. He is headbutted by their trainer, Keith Shadis, after revealing it has been a lifelong desire to join the Military Police which would enable him to lead a comfortable life in side the innermost Wall Sina. Jean would go on to perform quite well during his training, motivated to place in the top 10 so he could join the Military Police and his desire to outdo Eren; a boy he had become rivals with the day of his enlistment due to Eren's ideals.
He did end up making it into the top 10 of the trainees, although much to his irritation graduated 6th- one spot below Eren Yaeger. Despite this, Jean was still very proud of his accomplishment. Again, Eren's idealism would clash Jean's realism would lead them into an altercation.
Only days away from being able to join the Military Police, Jean and the rest of the trainees are sent to the front lines in the Trost district after the Colossal Titan appears for a second time. After a time, a shortage of gas for their maneuvering gear leaves a majority unable to effectively fight the titans surrounding them. After pairing up and led by Mikasa, the group makes an attempt to get back to HQ to refill their tanks. However, Jean must take over when she falls to the ground, carelessly having used too much gas in destroying Titans upon learning Eren was most likely dead. After one soldier runs out of gas and is swarmed by Titans, effectively distracting them from the larger group, Jean rushes forward to finally reach their destination. They crash through the upper windows of HQ to find the resupply team cowering behind makeshift barriers after the supply room had been overrun with Titans. Jean assaults one, blaming them for the lives of the cadets and soldiers that died.
Thankfully, after Armin, Mikasa, and Connie arrive with the help of the Rogue Titan. They deal with the matter of this particular Titan after executing Armin's plan to retake the supply room, where Jean slays his first Titan. Reiner and Annie advoxate to help out the seemingly deviant Titan after it is overwhelmed by its own kind, and Jean is quite hesitant. They had just barely gotten to the building alive, and he wasn't willing to risk it again for some Titan no matter how helpful it was being at that point in time. Fortunately, the Titan breaks free and attacks another one. Soon after it collapses, and to everyone's surprise Eren Yaeger emerges from the neck seemingly unconscious. This leaves Jean as one of the first to be a part of this discovery.
Jean does not play much of a role when Eren is confronted about his shifting ability, although Armin does his best to dissuade Commander Pixis from executing Eren on the spot. Already getting pulled deep into what will explode into a giant mess, Jean is left to keep his head above water in the upcoming events.
